This is a programme comprising of various options aimed at unemployed people 18-24 and 25+ which gives them the opportunity to develop their potential and to give you, the employer, the opportunity to access an important labour market resource.

The programme provides financial help which allows you to recruit and train future skilled employees.

There is a strong emphasis within the programme on providing accredited vocational qualifications and quality work experience.

Options:


18-24 FTET

The emphasis of FTET is on qualifications with quality work experience leading to employment. Participants must percue an accredited qualification, primarily an NVQ which must complement the work experience placement.

There are however opportunities to undertake other accredited qualifications which appear on the National Qualiifications Framework.

The FTET option lasts 26 weeks and while on the Option participants will receive Benefit-Based Training Allowance and a "top up" payment of £15.38 per week.


25plus ETO

This provides participants with the opportunity to achieve 3 or more units of an NVQ at level 2 or 3 or Vocationally Related Qualification. The ETO lasts for a maximum of 26 weeks excepts in the case of childcare where the total period of participation can be up to 52 weeks.

Participants undertake a minimum of 30 hours attendance per week and receive a training allowance equivalent to their former rate of Jobseeker's Allowance and for those entering the programme after 1 April 2003, a "top up" payment of £15.38 per week.


25plus PEP

Those aged 25-49 who do not enter employment, self employment or ETO following their time on Gateway are required to participate on the PEP. The PEP is a 20 week programme and offers participants a broad mix of provision.

An extension of up to 6 weeks is available where it would be beneficial to a participant.

The PEP provides a flexible, individually tailored mix of provision consisting of structured work experience placements, short accredited training courses, essential skills training and a mandatory one week personal effectiveness.jobsearch module for all.

PEP is aimed at improving participant's motivation, self-esteem, jobsearch skills and work skills through work experience and training. Participants undertake a minimum of 30 hours attendance per week while on the PEP and receive a training allowance equivalent of their former rate of Jobseeker's Allowance and a "top up" paymnet of £15.38 per week.


Essential Skills

Young people identified as requiring intensive help with essential skills and assessed by a qualified skills tutor will be able to avail of Essential Skills Training for up to 26 weeks.

Its primary aim is to address the individual's essential skills needs through the achievement of a natonally recognised essential skills qualification.

While on Essential Skills Training participants will receive Benefit-Based Training Allowance and a "top up" payment of £15.38 per week.
