Sample Learning Agreement

All trainees will be required to sign up to this contract

What you can expect of BCTL as the training provider of this course:

Courses will employ a number of learning delivery systems including on-line learning, which may also enhance the learning process. To ensure a successful outcome through co-operation between everyone involved, BCTL (the training provider) agrees:

  • To deliver a training course in particular subjects as per the current syllabus
  • To assist the learner in participating in Work Experience in the relevant Industry.
  • To assist the learner in procuring job interviews in the relevant Industry.
  • To ensure confidentiality when dealing with any issues that might arise with the learner.

What we expect of you as a learner on this course:

The success of this course will be dependent on the extent to which YOU (the learner) are prepared to be involved in the course. To ensure this, you (the learner) agree:

  • To attend all training sessions throughout the training period.
  • To complete and submit all Assignments and Tasks within the specified time frame.
  • To study for the required number of hours per day/per week.
  • To complete all modules of the course.
  • To fully participate in work placement relevant to your NVQ.
  • To ensure course materials are used only by the learner and for the purposes of completing the course.
  • If you are involved in a course which uses the IT suite, to contact the Course Admin immediately, if for any reason your computer is not working. Trainees must not, under any circumstances, attempt to repair hardware, software or communication faults. Failures should be logged in the appropriate system and these will be dealt with by Course Admin.
  • To inform Course Admin immediately of any change of e-mail address, home address or telephone number.
  • To respect confidentiality, but also recognise that because the Internet is not a wholly secure medium, people other than their recipients may read your e-mails.
  • To fully participate in all Syndicate or Group Exercises and Projects which you have been assigned and to ensure that your participation is completed within the project deadline.

DRESS CODE

  • Participants will be expected to observe an appropriate dress code. Please refrain from wearing football shirts.

HOLIDAYS

  • You will be entitled to 15 days holiday excluding public and statutory holidays in your training year.

ABSENCES

Any absences must be certified. Absence due to illness will be allowed for up to 15 consecutive working days in any one training year.

  • Absence due to illness up to 4 days (including weekdays and statutory holidays) will require a self-certification form. Sick absence of more than 4 days will require a Doctor’s Certificate.
  • Absence without certification for more than 4 working days will result in a written warning concerning further participation in BCTL courses.
  • Absence extending to 10 days without certification will result in a formal interview (incorporating a further written warning advising dismissal from BCTL if absence persists.)

DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE

  • Trainees must observe the rules of the training room in terms of food and other refreshments.
  • Training room resources are solely for the purpose of training and assignment work. Use of the IT resources for recreational use, such as games (whether on-line or off-line) will result in disciplinary action including dismissal from the course

GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

  • If a trainee has a grievance or complaint they can submit a written appeal. A copy of BCTL's Grievance Procedure can be obtained from any tutor.
